Tradisi Malam Selikuran Menjelang Malam Lailatul Qadar Di Kalasan Kabupaten Sleman

his study aims to examine the meaning, values, and religious context underlying the Malem Selikuran tradition in RT 004 RW 002 Kergan Pucung, Tamanmartani Village, Kalasan District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Province. This tradition, which is carried out during the last ten days of Ramadan, has significant spiritual and cultural significance for the Javanese community. This study uses the Living Hadith approach, which examines how the Hadith is applied in everyday life. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, involving 25 respondents, including religious leaders, community leaders, and residents actively involved in this tradition. Data were analyzed using a descriptive-interpretive approach, involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.
The research results show that the community interprets malem selikuran as a blend of Islamic values and local traditions. This tradition not only strengthens individual faith but also fosters social solidarity, thus serving as a way to preserve religious values while simultaneously expressing a culture relevant to contemporary life.This research contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the diversity of Islam in local contexts, particularly in the application of hadith in everyday life.
