UIN Public Relations – The Rector of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Ishom, M.A., officially sent off 82 students who are part of the university delegation to compete in the Second Banten-Java-Madura Arts, Sports, and Academic WeekJava and Madura (Porsi Jawara) II at UIN KH. The send-off ceremony was attended in person by the Head of the Bureau of Academic Administration, Student Affairs, and Cooperation (AAKK), Dra. Hj. Aminah, M.Si., the Secretary of the Student Activities Advisory Team (TPKM), Jamaluddin, M.E., as well as the coaches and advisors of the Porsi Jawara II contingent.
In his report, Jamaluddin, M.E., Secretary of the UIN SMH Banten TPKM, stated that 82 student athletes will compete in 24 sports events. This participation brings great optimism, following the achievements of the UIN SMH Banten contingent, which recently placed fourth at the 2026 Banten Provincial Student Sports Week (Pomprov) last week.
Jamaluddin explained that the group of athletes sent to the competition included gold and silver medalists from various sports, such as futsal, badminton, karate, pencak silat, and rock climbing. In fact, several first-semester students who were just starting their first day of classes also contributed directly to upholding the reputation of their alma mater.
“I’d like to report that last week we participated in the 8th Banten Provincial Student Sports Week 2026 and successfully placed fourth among all universities in Banten Province. We’ll use yesterday’s results as a starting point so that in this second Porsi Jawara event, we can win the overall championship. ”Based on our history in Porsi Jawara I, where we placed in the top three, we are optimistic that in this Porsi Jawara II event—through evaluation and intensive training—we can achieve the best results,” said Jamaluddin.
He added that, to ensure the athletes remain in top physical condition after a 6- to 7-hour road trip, the departure schedule was adjusted to Tuesday so that the delegation would have enough time to rest before the competition begins.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UIN SMH Banten, Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Ishom, M.A., commended the athletes’ spirit and reaffirmed the university leadership’s commitment to fully supporting the team’s efforts. The rector asked all students to focus their minds on the competition and set aside non-technical concerns, including rumors of a potential volcanic eruption that had been circulating.
“I hope you will all bring honor to our beloved university. While UIN Banten ranked in the top three at the first Porsi Jawara, I want all of you to bring home as many trophies as possible and take first place at the second Porsi Jawara in 2026. Focus on the competition and have the fighting spirit to win the championship,” the Rector emphasized.
Prof. Muhammad Ishom reaffirmed his determination to continue boosting the campus’s achievements in sports, the arts, and academia. As a tangible form of appreciation, the university administration has coordinated with the Vice Rector III to develop a reward scheme for students who have successfully won medals, one of which involves a policy to reduce the Single Tuition Fee (UKT).
“For the winners, please take note of their achievements, as rewards need to be prepared. If the reward isn’t in the form of cash, at the very least their tuition fees will be reduced by at least one grade. Although UIN SMH Banten is a religious academic university, we are strongly committed to advancing achievements in sports, the arts, and science,” he added.
In addition to institutional incentives, the Rector specifically promised a cash bonus from his own funds for the team if they succeed in winning the overall championship. This move is expected to boost the motivation of all the athletes to perform at their best and bring home the overall championship title to Banten.
“If you win the overall championship, I’ll provide a special reward from my own pocket—not from the university’s budget. This is our way of showing our appreciation. Remember, you came to Pekalongan to be champions, not losers,” he concluded, boosting the delegates’ morale.
