The History of Kalam Thought is a course of the Islamic Philosophy Aqidah Study Program, Faculty of Ushuluddin, Da'wah and Adab, Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin State Islamic University Banten. In general, the course discusses the Introduction to the Science of Kalam, the discussion of the issue of aqidah at the time of the Prophet, the discussion of the issue of aqidah at the time of Caliph Abu Bakar Siddiq, the discussion of the issue of aqidah at the time of Caliph Umar Bin Khattab, the discussion of the issue of aqidah at the time of Caliph Uthman Bin Affan, Political Disputes at the time of Caliph Ali Bin Talib and the birth of the flow and thought of Kalam, The development of the flow and thought of Kalam during the Umayyah Dynasty, The development of the flow and thought of Kalam during the Abbasid Dynasty, Kalam thought in the early modern era, The flow and thought of Kalam that still exists today, Theological issues in contemporary times, Modern Islamic theologians and their thoughts, and Indonesian modern theologians and their thoughts.

Attitude and Values

  1. Contributing to improving the quality of life in society, nation and state based on an understanding of the values of Islamic religious beliefs that are not only in accordance with the values contained in the Koran and Prophetic Hadiths but also compatible with national values and global values, and the advancement of Islamic and national culture.
  2. Reflecting the attitude of Muslims who believe in Allah SWT and have noble character in accordance with the values of the teachings of tawhid and Islamic ethical values and the values of Pancasila.
  3. Internalizing the values of Kalam Science so as to become academic and social people who are committed to the belief in tawhid and have religious and social responsibilities for the development and progress of the nation and state.
  4. Having intellectual responsibility in analyzing religious issues, especially those concerning issues of belief, society, nationality and messenger and being able to overcome problems that develop in society and provide solutions to problems of belief, religion, society and state.

  1. Able to analyze the historical basis or background of the emergence of Kalam science.
  2. Able to analyze the history of the development of Kalam Science comprehensively and factually from the time of the Prophet until now.
  3. Able to identify the characteristics of Kalam Science.
  4. Mastering knowledge of the school of kalam and its kalam thought.
  5. Master the knowledge of the differences and similarities between the schools of kalam in a holistic and precise manner.
  6. Mastering knowledge of the similarities and differences between sects in the school of kalam in a holistic and precise manner.
  7. Mastering knowledge of the differences between classical and modern kalam thought

  1. Able to apply logical, critical, systematic, and innovative thinking in the context of developing or implementing science and technology that pays attention to and applies the value of Islamic faith in accordance with their field of expertise.
