This course teaches about the understanding of ’Ulumul Qur'an with the scope of study of various subjects needed as a tool to understand the content of the Qur'an. This course is an introductory development to the deepening of the Qur'an in terms of the history of the revelation of the Qur'an, Makkiyah-Madaniyah, nasikh-mansukh, muhkam-mutasyabih, i'jazul Qur'an, and the study of theories about the interpretation of the Qur'an Students as prospective Muslim scholars are required to have the ability to apply the principles of the rules of interpretation of the Qur'an and those related to it.

Course Learning Outcomes (CPMK)

  1. Students explain the term ‘Ulumul Qur'an, the history of its development and the scope of its discussion.
  2. Students are able to know the meaning of revelation, the ways in which God's revelation is revealed to the Messengers and its legal basis.
  3. Students are able to distinguish the characteristics of the Qur'an that was revealed in Mecca and Medina, and can classify the verses of Makkiyah and Madaniyah.
  4. Students are able to explain about the Collection and Bookkeeping of the Qur'an, and understand the order of verses and letters.
  5. Students are able to explain the meaning of the verse of the Qur'an in accordance with its revelation, why, and know the stages of the revelation of the Qur'an and its wisdom.
  6. Students are able to explain nasikh-mansukh, its urgency and division in the Qur'an.
  7. Students are able to explain the meaning of the Qur'anic verses both hakikat and majazi, their criteria, and the wisdom of muhkam and mutasyabih verses.
  8. Students are able to explain the Qashash al-Qur'an, the Ibroh of using the title of the character in the qoshosh and its wisdom.
  9. Students are able to explain the features of the Qur'an, the purpose of I'jaz and its benefits.
  10. Students are able to explain the terms tarjamah, tafsir al-Qur'an, and ta'wil.
