HumasUIN - In an ongoing effort to improve academic quality, the History of Islamic Civilization (SPI) Study Program at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab (FUDA) UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin (SMH) Banten underwent a Field Assessment process by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). This activity is scheduled to take place for three days, from January 30 to February 1, 2026.
In this assessment, BAN-PT sent two experts as a team of assessors, namely Prof. Dr. Dudung Abdurahman, M. Hum from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and Dr. Setia Gumilar, M.Si from UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung.
The opening ceremony was officially held on Friday (30/1/2026) at the FUDA Hall of UIN SMH Banten. This important agenda was attended by university leaders, including the Head of the AUPK Bureau, the Head of the AAKK Bureau, Vice Chancellors I and III, all Faculty Deans, leaders of institutions such as LPM and LP2M, and the entire academic community within FUDA.
Vice Rector I of UIN SMH Banten, Dr. H. Nana Jumhana, M.Ag., who was present representing the Rector, expressed his deep gratitude for the implementation of this agenda. He revealed that this accreditation process is a highly anticipated moment by the entire Task Force team after experiencing administrative constraints on the automatic renewal system.

“Alhamdulillah, on this blessed day we finally carried out a field assessment for accreditation or re-accreditation of the SPI study program. Honestly, this accreditation period should have ended in May last year, but due to technical problems in the accreditation system window, we only received the extension decree this January. Our friends in SPI were feeling anxious, but today the anxiety is answered by the presence of the assessors,” said Dr. Nana Jumhana in his speech.
Furthermore, the Vice Rector I analogized the field assessment process with hilal monitoring in the method of determining the time of worship. He hopes that the presence of assessors is not only to provide administrative assessment, but also guidance to improve the quality of graduates.
“As the saying goes, this field assessment is the stage of rukyatul hilal or seeing directly in the field after previously doing hisab through document data. We hope that the assessors can portray the quality of our study program as beautiful as its original color. We also ask for guidance so that our weak points can be fixed, because we want this accreditation to be directly proportional to the quality of graduates. Currently, UIN SMH Banten has achieved ‘Superior’ university accreditation since 2025, and around 40 percent of our study programs have also achieved the title of Superior,” he added.
In line with this, the BAN-PT assessor team representative, Prof. Dr. Dudung Abdurahman, M. Hum, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from the university. He explained that his presence aimed to conduct factual verification of the data that had been reported in the LED and LKPS documents.

“The field assessment process is now a confirmation stage to reaffirm what has been reported previously. We understand there is a long wait from the university regarding this schedule. Therefore, we strive to make this process run as efficiently as possible. We all hope for maximum results. Although the final result is the full authority of BAN-PT, we hope that today's process will run smoothly until it is finished,” said Prof. Dudung.
This field assessment activity is expected to provide optimal results for the SPI Study Program, as well as strengthen the position of UIN SMH Banten as one of the leading Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia.
