In order to develop students' knowledge about libraries, the IPII Study Program held a National Seminar

FUDA I Thursday (03 October 2024) - The Islamic Library and Information Science Study Program held a National Seminar with the theme: “The Role of Atpusi (Association of School Library Personnel) in School Library Development in Banten Province” with speaker ety Widianti, S. E. (Chairperson of Atpusi Prov.Banten) and moderated by Jamridafrizal.

Head of the IPII Study Program Hadian Rizani said in his speech that some time ago we also learned about Records Management in the Metro TV Station. I visited the school library several times, where the development of the library there, is still lacking, in addition to the collection, and librarians, the aesthetics as well. For this reason, Alhamdulillah, today we are again holding a seminar, which in this semester is already the third time.

Vice Dean I Sholahuddin Al Ayubi said when visiting the Alexander Library, I saw an extraordinary collection, from old printing presses to the latest. My son in Malaysia found a bookstore that looks like a library, and in Korea the library is also very extraordinary. Mr. Hadian once asked, where is the library building? I said the library is the heart of the IPII study program.

The following is a summary of the material about ATPUSI Banten Province:

  1. Establishment of ATPUSI:

   - The central ATPUSI (Association of Indonesian School Library Personnel) was established on May 28, 2009 in Jakarta, attended by library personnel from all over Indonesia, as well as education and regional library officials.

   - ATPUSI Banten Province was formed in 2011 at LPMP Banten.

  1. Vision and Mission:

   - Vision: Realizing professional school library staff.

   - Mission: Improve the competence of library staff, create a learning system that is integrated with the library, and establish cooperation with various institutions.

  1. Objective:

   - Improve the competence and professionalism of school library staff.

   - Improve information literacy and support a sustainable learning system.

  1. Work Program for the period 2022-2026:

   - Recruiting ATPUSI Banten members.

   - Integration of library programs with the curriculum.

   - Improving the competency of library managers through training.

   - Organized the “School Writing Book Movement” program and accredited school libraries in Banten.

  1. Competency Standards (Permendiknas No. 25/2008):

   - The competence of library staff includes managerial aspects, information management, education, and professional development.

  1. Facts on School Libraries in Indonesia:

   - Many libraries still lack collections, facilities, budgets, technology and human resources.

   - However, government support for school library development is increasing.

  1. Literacy Movement:

   - “School Writing Book Movement” program to improve literacy culture among students and educators in Banten Province

This activity also ended with the enthusiasm of students of the Islamic Library and Information Science Study Program to develop knowledge in the library field.
