Food Security Strategy Based on Local Wisdom: A Study of Kayfiyat Tatanen Script

FUDA | Friday (03/03/2023) - Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab, Dr. H. Eva Syarifah Wardah, M.Hum was the resource person for the Friday discussion this time. The discussion was held in the courtroom of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab 2nd floor, starting at 08.00 WIB until 11.00 WIB.

The theme discussed by Dr. Eva was “Food Security Strategy Based on Local Wisdom: A Manuscript Study Kayfiyat Tatanen.” This theme is very interesting to discuss, because the Banten community in agricultural management has a special book from the ancestors. One of the manuscripts found is the Kayfiyat Tatanen Manuscript.

“The Kayfiyat Tatanen manuscript contains four parts of discussion. First, the procedure for planting rice. Second, the determination of the best day to plant rice. Third, the prayers at the beginning of planting rice. And finally, it deals with merchandising.” Dr. Eva explained.

In fact, there are even jampi-jampi or mantras used in agricultural management. One of them is the recitation of prayers when planting rice.
