History of Islamic Civilization Study Program Holds Departmental Seminar Activities

FUDA-The History of Islamic Civilization Study Program, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten held a Department Seminar on Monday, September 09, 2024 in the 2nd floor Fuda Hall with the theme: “Mseum as History Source”.

The speaker at this seminar was Ubaidillah Muchtar, M.Pd, who is currently the Head of the Mulfatah Museum in Rangkasbitung, Banten Province.

Before the seminar study was presented by the speaker, Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten Dr. Sholahuddin Al Ayubi, M.A in his speech said: “The museum has several roles, including artifacts, manuscripts and as an object of historical research.”.

Students of the History of Islamic Civilization study program can use the museum as a place to study history. Because according to Government Regulation No. 66 of 2015 concerning Museums, Museums are institutions that protect, develop, utilize collections, and communicate them to the public.. The definition of a museum based on the 22nd general conference of ICOM (International Council Of Museums) in Vienna, Austria, on August 24, 2007 states that Museum is a permanent, not-for-profit institution, serving the community and its development, open to the public, which collects, preserves, researches, communicates, and exhibits tangible and intangible cultural and environmental heritage for the purposes of study, education, and enjoyment..

Ubaidillah Muchtar as a resource person or speaker in this seminar activity said that the enthusiasm for learning History is still low, it seems that the History major is considered not too important. Whereas in the museum there are specific job vacancies for History majors such as curators in the History museum, every museum must have a curator, curators who assess, conduct studies and research are curators.

Learning history makes us realize that what we sow today will bear fruit in the future. So, learning history provides education for the future and how to organize ourselves and even the country so that the future is bright. Those are the various functions and benefits of studying history for human life.
