Serang, October 29, 2025 - The atmosphere of FUDA Building Hall Level 2 that morning turned into a lively discussion room when the Student Senate of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab (SEMA FUDA) UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten held a Legislation Seminar entitled “The Role of Legislation in Forming Young Legislators with Integrity for the Realization of Quality Democracy.”
The event, which took place at 08.30 WIB, was opened with remarks from Fabi Fauzul Alim as the Chief Executive. In his speech, he emphasized that this activity was not just a ceremonial event, but a real step to instill political awareness and moral responsibility for students. “Legislation is not just a parliamentary matter, but also our space as a young generation to learn to maintain the direction of democracy,” he said.
The next speech was delivered by the Chairman of SEMA FUDA 2025, Taosyekh Nawawi, who highlighted the importance of students understanding the legislative process as a form of active participation in overseeing public policy. He emphasized, “Students must be part of the political solution, not just observers on social media.”
The event was then officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab, Dr. Masykur, M.Hum. in his speech emphasized that integrity is the main foundation of a legislator. “Without integrity, power will only lose its direction and value,” he said before symbolically opening the seminar.
As the Keynote Speaker, H. Abdul Gofur, S.H., M.H. Deputy Chairman of the Serang Regency DPRD, delivered introductory material on the basics of legislation. He emphasized that a good legislative function begins with a deep understanding of the needs of the community and the ability to formulate policies that are fair and in favor of the public.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hj Hindun Anisah, MA, who is a member of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the House of Representatives, was the main speaker and reviewed in detail the three main functions of the House of Representatives: legislation, budget, and supervision. She explained the mechanisms for implementing these three functions and the importance of the public's role in supporting the oversight function. “Public criticism is not a nuisance, but part of a healthy democracy,” he said amidst the enthusiasm of the participants.
Through this seminar, SEMA FUDA wants to emphasize that building a quality democracy starts from campus spaces. The younger generation should not be apathetic towards the legislative process, because it is in their hands that the future of public policy will be shaped with integrity and conscience.
