The Most Beautiful Gift on Santri Day and 63rd Anniversary of UIN SMH Banten; Study Program of al-Qur'an and Tafsir Science UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten Achieves “EXCELLENT” Accreditation”

FUDA I October 23, 2025 - State Islamic University (UIN) Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten again made a brilliant achievement. Study Program al-Qur'an Science and Tafsir (IAT) under the shade Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab successfully achieved accreditation rating “EXCELLENT” from National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT), as stated in Accreditation Decree Number 8039/SK/BAN-PT/AK/S/X/2025 dated October 22, 2025 to coincide with National Santri Day.

This achievement marks the strong commitment of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten in improving the quality of academic and Islamic research, especially in the field of al-Qur'an and tafsir studies, while strengthening the university's reputation as a center of superior, integrative and globally competitive Islamic science.

Rector of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Prof. Dr. Muhamad Ishom, M.Ag., expressed his gratitude and deep appreciation to the entire academic community for this achievement.

“This is the most beautiful gift that we get to coincide with Santri Day and the 63rd Anniversary of UIN Banten. On Santri Day and UIN Banten's Anniversary, two study programs at UIN Banten, namely the Qur'an and Tafsir Science Study Program (IAT) and the Sharia Economic Law Study Program (HES), received the Superior predicate. The achievement of Superior accreditation of IAT Study Program is an asset to accelerate the internationalization of UIN Banten campus. This is clear evidence that the cooperation and cohesiveness of each component ranging from university leaders, faculty leaders, study programs, staff, students, alumni can realize the ideals that have been expected. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed a lot in achieving the superior accreditation of IAT Study Program,” he said.

“UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten will continue to innovate so that each study program can achieve superior standards, both in the quality of education and contribution to the development of Islamic civilization in Indonesia,” he added.

Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab, Dr. Masykur, S.Ag., M.Hum., He emphasized that this result is a testament to the continuous transformation within the faculty.

“Rating. EXCELLENT This is not just a symbol of achievement, but a form of a long process of strengthening the curriculum, improving the quality of lecturers, and synergizing with various national and international scientific institutions,” he said.

“We will continue to encourage other study programs to emulate this achievement so that the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab will increasingly play a role as a center of excellence for Islamic science and humanity,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Cooperation of FUDA who previously served as Head of the Qur'an and Tafsir Science Study Program, Dr. Endang Saeful Anwar, Lc., M.A., also expressed gratitude and thanks for the support of all parties.

“Achievements Superior This is the result of a long journey involving all academic elements. When we started the process of strengthening quality several years ago, our main focus was to build a solid internal quality assurance system and a productive academic culture,” he said. “Now, these results have paid off with the recognition of excellence from the BAN-PT accreditation agency. However, more important than that, we want to ensure that the Qur'an and Tafsir Study Program continues to be a space that produces contextual interpretations that are relevant to the needs of society,” he added.

Head of the Qur'an and Tafsir Science Study Program, Hikmatul Luthfi, M.A.Hum., also expressed gratitude and optimism for this success.

“We are grateful for this achievement and thank all lecturers, students, and academic partners. Our deepest gratitude goes to the Rector, Vice Rectors, Heads of AUPK and AAKK Bureaus, Heads of Institutions, Heads of UPT, and Deans and their staff for their full support, direction, assistance, and assistance from the preparation, preparation, assessment stages until the issuance of this accreditation result. Sincere thanks also to the entire team, lecturers, education staff, students, alumni, partners, and all those who have contributed with enthusiasm, dedication, and sincerity,” he said.

“In the future, the direction of IAT development will not only focus on digitizing interpretive studies and increasing scientific publications, but also on strengthening the interpretive approach based on Banten's local wisdom,” he said.

“Banten has a very rich Islamic religious and cultural tradition - from classical Islamic boarding schools to the practice of oral interpretation, especially the reading of the Tafsir of Syaikh Nawawi al-Bantani, who is famous for his Marah Labid tafsir. We will integrate these values into research and teaching, so that the tafsir produced is relevant to the local context but still based on the universal principles of the Qur'an,” he added.

“Thus, the Qur'an and Tafsir Science Study Program is not only a center for textual studies, but also a center for social and cultural transformation based on Qur'anic values,” he concluded.

This “Excellent” accreditation rating was achieved after going through a field assessment process, form evaluation, and validation of various quality indicators such as curriculum quality, research quality, scientific publication output, internal quality assurance system, and tracer study of graduates, governance and student resources, lecturers, education staff and facilities and infrastructure.

With this achievement, the Qur'an and Tafsir Science Study Program has become one of the leading study programs within UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, and is expected to become a model for developing academic quality and integration of Islamic science at the national level. (Esafa)
