To Promote Academic Quality, the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought at UIN SMH Banten Holds a Program on Accelerating Full Professorship and Journal Governance in Collaboration with International Journal Experts

SERANG — In an effort to improve academic quality and the quality of scientific publications, the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought (FUSPI) at Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin (SMH) State Islamic University (UIN) in Banten is organizing an event titled “Accelerating Full Professors and Managing Internationally Reputable Journals.” The three-day event, held from August 10 to 12, 2026, focused on a strategic theme “Strengthening the Three Pillars of Higher Education Through the Accelerated Promotion of Full Professors”.

This event specifically featured two leading experts in the fields of academic writing and journal management: Prof. Dr. Mursyid Djawas (Editor-in-Chief of the Samarah Journal) and Dr. Abidin Nurdin. Their participation is designed to provide intensive guidance to faculty members on publishing in globally renowned journals, while also accelerating their progress toward attaining the highest academic rank of professor.

During his training session, Prof. Dr. Mursyid Djawas thoroughly analyzed strategies for writing scientific articles that meet global standards, provided tips on getting published in Scopus-indexed journals, and discussed the managerial framework needed for a faculty journal to compete at the international level. Meanwhile, Dr. Abidin Nurdin provided guidance on research methodology and a roadmap (roadmap) to ensure that faculty research is focused and aligned with the areas of expertise required to become a full professor.

The Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FUSPI) at UIN SMH Banten, Dr. Masykur, M.Hum., emphasized in his remarks that this event represents a concrete step by the faculty in responding to the challenges of today’s global academic world.

“This event is a manifestation of FUSPI’s commitment to continuously promote the professional development of faculty members. The theme ‘Strengthening the Three Pillars of Higher Education through the Acceleration of Full Professors’ ”We deliberately highlighted this because we recognize that the backbone of a university rests on the quality of its academics’ research and publications,” Dr. Masykur emphasized.

Furthermore, he hopes that this mentorship program will yield tangible results in the near future. “Through direct guidance from experts of the caliber of Prof. Mursyid Djawas and Dr. Abidin Nurdin, we aim to produce even more full professors from FUSPI whose works are recognized internationally. An increase in the number of full professors, coupled with the management of reputable journals, will further strengthen the academic standing of Ushuluddin on the global stage,” he added.

This event was enthusiastically attended by dozens of faculty members and journal editors from FUSPI at UIN SMH Banten. The series of events is scheduled to conclude on August 12 with the following agenda: coaching clinic, where participants have the opportunity to receive manuscript reviews and direct feedback on the scientific article drafts they are currently writing.
