UIN Public Relations – The Mathematics Student Association (HMPS) of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten successfully hosted its annual mathematics competition, Math Extravaganza (GAMMA) 2026, on Thursday (October 15, 2026). With the theme “Broadening Horizons, Nurturing Potential, Fostering Achievement”, the event—now in its third year—was held with great enthusiasm in the 3rd-floor auditorium of the Faculty of Science and Technology.
The GAMMA Competition is designed as a platform for high school, vocational high school, and Islamic high school students—and their equivalents—to showcase their raw talent, test their analytical skills, solve mathematical challenges, and foster a healthy competitive spirit. Since its inception in 2024 and continuing into 2025, the GAMMA competition has consistently received a warm reception from students. In this 2026 edition, a total of 42 students from nine schools participated, including MAS Al Rahmah, SMAS Qothrotul Falah Cikulur, SMAN 9 Kota Serang, MAN 2 Cilegon, SMK Sains Medika Kota Serang, SMK Informatika Kota Serang, MAN 2 Kota Serang, SMAS Plus Assa’adah, and SMAS Nur El Falah Kubang.
The event began with an opening ceremony (Opening Ceremony) which featured a series of opening remarks from student leaders and department heads. Levi Majolika, President of the Mathematics Student Association (HMPS), expressed deep appreciation for the enthusiasm of the participants. He explained that GAMMA 2026 was organized not merely as a typical competition, but as a means to inspire a love of mathematics among the younger generation.

In line with this, the Head of the Mathematics Study Program, Dimas Kukuh Nur Rachim, M.Sc., emphasized the importance of such competitions for students’ academic development. He stated that mathematics is often perceived as a daunting subject, but through GAMMA, the program aims to demonstrate that mathematics can be presented in an engaging, practical, and challenging way.

The event was officially opened by the First Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Dr. Eko Wahyu Wibowo, M.Si., marked by the presentation of participant badges (ID Card) symbolically to student representatives. In his remarks, Dr. Eko Wahyu Wibowo expressed his pride in the Mathematics Student Association’s (HMPS) consistency in organizing this positive regional-scale event. He noted that this event serves as an effective platform for identifying talented young students in the fields of science and technology. He also added that the UIN Banten Faculty of Science and Technology consistently provides full support for any student activities capable of making a tangible impact on improving the quality of education for the community.

The GAMMA 2026 competition was a close contest that unfolded over several rounds designed to test the participants’ intelligence and quick thinking:
Preliminary Round 1: Math Challenge Round 1: Mental Math
Preliminary Round 2: Chapter 2: Memorizing
