FUDA I Tuesday (17 June 2025) - The Study Program of the History of Islamic Civilization (SPI), Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab, State Islamic University (UIN) Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten held an event to discuss the history of Islamic civilization. Professional Field Practicum Orientation for final semester students. This activity aims to equip students with initial understanding and skills before going directly to the field, as well as supporting their readiness to apply the knowledge they have gained during lectures.
Located in the Faculty auditorium, this orientation activity was attended by all students who will carry out practicum. In his speech, Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab, Dr. Sholahuddin Al-Ayubi, M.A., emphasized the importance of this orientation as the first door to enter the professional world.
“Field practicum is a golden opportunity for students to translate the historical theories they learn into a real context, especially in the study of the history of Islamic civilization.” Dr. Sholahuddin said.
During the orientation activities, students receive a thorough explanation of practicum techniques, which include historical data collection, archival research, and visits to historical sites that are important in the journey of Islamic civilization. They are also equipped with an understanding of work ethics, responsibilities at the practicum site, and relevant field research skills.
The orientation session also featured Pamong Budaya Yadi Ahyadi, as a guest speaker. In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of analytical acumen in studying historical sources, both in the form of texts and physical artifacts.
“We hope that students will not only stop at the data collection stage, but also be able to analyze and contribute new perspectives in understanding the history of Islamic civilization.” Yadi emphasized.
Interestingly, this orientation also opened a discussion space between students and alumni who had previously undergone practicum. The alumni shared their experiences during the practicum, providing insights and tips on how to face challenges and maximize this opportunity from an academic and professional perspective.
The activity was closed with an interactive question and answer session. Students seemed enthusiastic in asking various questions about administrative techniques, field research strategies, and how to build professional networks during practicum.
