UIN Public Relations – Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin (SMH) State Islamic University (UIN) Banten held an Open Senate Session as part of its 64th anniversary celebrations, which included an academic address, on Tuesday (October 20, 2026).
Under the theme “Ignite Impact, Inspire Change,” the event took place in the Auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Rectorate Building at UIN SMH Banten Campus 2, serving as an opportunity to strengthen the university’s commitment to improving academic quality and making a tangible impact on society.
The Open Senate Session began with an official opening address by the Chair of the UIN SMH Banten Senate, Prof. Dr. H. B. Syafuri, M.Hum. The event was attended by university leadership, deans, Senate members, the academic community, and invited guests from various sectors.
In his remarks, the Rector of UIN SMH Banten, Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Ishom, M.A., reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining academic quality while expanding access to high-quality and affordable higher education for the public. He also highlighted the increase in the number of full professors and the upgrade of study program accreditation to “Excellent” as part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s quality and competitiveness.

“UIN SMH Banten remains committed to providing inclusive, high-quality higher education. We want to nurture a generation of graduates who think big, dare to aim for strategic positions at the national level, and are ready to be part of the solution to various development challenges in society,” said Prof. Ishom.
The series of events then continued with a keynote address by the Head of the Indonesian Agency for the Development of Pancasila Ideology (BPIP), Prof. Drs. K.H. Yudian Wahyudi, M.A., Ph.D. In his address, Prof. Yudian emphasized the importance of preserving the foundations of national identity as the basis for strengthening the unity and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

He outlined four elements referred to as the “political miracles” of the Indonesian nation: the Youth Pledge, the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” Pancasila, and the Proclamation of Independence on August 17, 1945. According to him, these four elements play a crucial role in shaping national identity and maintaining unity amid the diversity of Indonesian society.
The Youth Pledge served as a milestone of unity that brought together various ethnic groups and regional languages in the spirit of nationalism, including through the use of Indonesian as the language of unity. Meanwhile, the song “Indonesia Raya,” composed by W.R. Supratman, became a symbol of the nation’s struggle and spirit of unity.
Furthermore, Prof. Yudian explained that Pancasila is both a philosophy and a noble national consensus that embodies universal values and is compatible with the teachings of Islam. The Proclamation of Independence on August 17, 1945, marked the birth of Indonesia’s independence, which was achieved through the struggle of all elements of the nation by the grace of Almighty God.
In addition to highlighting the foundations of nationhood, Prof. Yudian also elaborated on the concept of “Triple Transcendence” as one approach to supporting the transformation of Islamic religious universities. This concept emphasizes the importance of integrating the values of Pancasila, the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith, and advancements in science and technology (IPTEK) to develop high-caliber human resources capable of meeting the challenges of the times.
“With a solid foundation in nationalism and a mastery of modern science, graduates of UIN SMH Banten not only excel in their understanding of religion but are also prepared to become pioneers of a civilized society that is inclusive, tolerant, and makes a tangible impact on Indonesia,” Prof. Yudian emphasized.
Through the celebration of its 64th anniversary, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving the quality of education, strengthening national values, and fostering graduates who are capable of contributing to society. In line with the theme “Ignite Impact, Inspire Change,” this milestone is expected to reinforce the university’s efforts to bring about change and expand its positive impact on the nation.
