South Tangerang, October 14-16, 2025 - Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab (FUDA) of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin State Islamic University (UIN SMH) Banten held Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum Review Workshop. This activity was held at Trembesi Hotel, South Tangerang City, for three days, from October 14 to 16, 2025.
This workshop aims to improving curriculum quality within the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab as well as Ensure compliance with learning outcomes-based learning standards.. Through this activity, the faculty is committed to adjusting the curriculum to be more adaptive to global dynamics, relevant to the needs of the academic world, and answer professional demands in various fields.
This activity was attended by university and faculty leaders, including the Rector of UIN SMH Banten. Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Ishom, M.Ag, Dean of FUDA Dr. H. Masykur, M.Hum, The curriculum is developed by the deans, vice deans, heads and secretaries of study programs, lecturers, alumni, and external parties as stakeholder partners in the curriculum development process.
In his speech, Chairman of the Committee as well as Vice Dean I for Academic and Institutional Affairs, Dr. H. Masrukhin Muhsin, Lc., M.A., said that the implementation of this workshop was an important momentum in updating the faculty curriculum.
“This workshop was not only attended by faculty leaders, but also involved various parties, including lecturers, alumni, and external stakeholders. This cross-party involvement is expected to optimize the curriculum review process so that the results are more comprehensive and applicable,” he said.
This workshop presents main source, Prof. Dr. Phil. Sahiron, M.A, as Director of Islamic Higher Education (PTKI) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. His presence provided deep insight into the implementation of the OBE-based curriculum in Islamic religious universities, especially in the context of integrating Islamic values with international standards of higher education.
In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab, Dr. H. Masykur, M.Hum, He emphasized the importance of a paradigm shift in curriculum development.
“We will focus on a future curriculum based on OBE-Outcome Based Education. Not only emphasizing on the learning process, but also on the outcome. The question is, what kind of graduate profile do we want? That will be the main basis in designing our curriculum,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rector of UIN SMH Banten, Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Ishom, M.Ag, in his opening remarks highlighted the urgency of reviewing the curriculum which was last carried out in 2021.
“Speaking of curriculum review, the last one approved by the senate was in 2021. This means that it is time for us to make updates. OBE is a necessity that should have been implemented several years ago. But more than that, the direction of global education has now also shifted towards the concept of sustainable education - sustainable education, which not only prepares globally competitive graduates, but also has a concern for the sustainability of the universe,” he explained.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab is committed to initiate the implementation of a comprehensive OBE-based curriculum, The program is designed to produce graduates who not only excel in academic and professional competencies, but also have a strong Islamic character, adaptive, and globally competitive.
With a collaborative spirit and orientation towards international standards, this workshop activity is expected to be the first step towards internationalization of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab UIN SMH Banten, This is in line with the university's vision to become a superior and competitive Islamic university at the national and global levels.
