Also present at the event were the Head of the Language Development and Guidance Agency at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Hafidz Muksin, S.Sos., M.Si., the Rector of Mathla’ul Anwar University (UNMA), and senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

In his remarks, Hafidz Muksin, Head of the Language Development and Guidance Agency at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, expressed his appreciation for the presence of university leaders and emphasized the importance of upholding the dignity of the Indonesian language in academic settings. Hafidz emphasized the importance of language proficiency through the Indonesian Language Proficiency Test (UKBI) certificate for the academic community. According to him, the UKBI certificate serves as one of the key indicators of competence for both faculty members and students before they complete their studies.

In addition, Hafidz explained the main program for strengthening literacy and expressed his hope that the university would take an active role through community service programs.

“We sincerely hope that universities will participate in strengthening literacy. Through community service, students can conduct thematic workshops to support the use of high-quality books in schools—both in libraries and during study sessions. We also provide modules so that these thematic activities can be developed into literacy festivals at schools,” said Hafidz.

Hafidz also added that the third focus of this collaboration is the protection of regional languages and literature as part of an effort to preserve local cultures in accordance with the characteristics of each region.

In response, the Rector of UIN SMH Banten, Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Ishom, M.A., expressed the university’s commitment to preserving regional languages in Banten. Prof. Ishom revealed that UIN SMH Banten has compiled a Serang Javanese dictionary and published a book of sermons promoting religious moderation written in Serang Javanese and Sundanese.

“As part of our efforts to preserve local languages, we have distributed and promoted books containing sermons on religious moderation in local languages to mosques in the Pandeglang, Lebak, and Serang regions. ”In the future, UIN SMH Banten also plans to launch a Tadris Program in Indonesian Language and Literature,” said Prof. Ishom.
