FUDA | Friday (10/03/2023) - Lecturer Discussion is a routine activity held every Friday at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab. This is based on the Decree of the Rector of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten Number 175 of 2023 concerning Presenters / Resource Persons for Lecturer Discussions at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab. There are 50 lecturers designated as speakers who will be divided into 10 groups. Each group consists of 5 lecturers who will be resource persons every Friday.
This Friday, the speakers of the lecturer discussion were Dr. Mohamad Hudaeri M.Ag., Dr. Badruddin, M.Ag., Ahmad Muhibi, M.A., and Verry Mardiyanto, M.A., Each lecturer presented their respective material. This discussion was attended by lecturers and students, who solemnly listened to the material presented by the speakers. The FUDA courtroom became the venue for the discussion from 08.00 to 11.00 WIB.
The discussion was guided by Dr. Sholahuddin Al Ayubi, M.A., then continued with the presentation of material by Dr. Mohamad Hudaeri, M.Ag., with the theme Islam as a Discursive Tradition. He explained that “According to Talal Asad, in order to understand Islam and Muslim societies, scholars, especially anthropologists, must look at the role of Muslim-specific reasoning (Islamic reasoningAnthropologists and scholars of Islam in general must begin their studies by first understanding the specific way of thinking of Muslims, which is based on the Qur'an and Hadith. The second material was presented by Dr. Badruddin, M.Ag., who presented the theme The Urgency of Dhikrullah. He explained “Dhikrullah becomes a blessing because it is a gift if we can remember Him sincerely and with a clean heart. Therefore, when doing dhikr, it is recommended to be clean from hadats (not obligatory), and focus our conscience by expecting the pleasure of Allah alone.”
Followed by the third speaker, Ahmad Muhibi, M.A., the theme he discussed in this discussion was the history of the struggle of figures in Banten who were also heroes of the struggle for Indonesian independence. “K.H. Mas Muchamad Arsyad Thawil is a scholar who contributed to the struggle for Indonesian independence. His role was very big, especially because he was one of the main actors involved in the 1888 Cilegon disturbance. He was born in Lampuyang village, Tanara, Banten in 1851 AD. His father was Imam As'ad, a kiyai who founded a pesantren in Tanara which at that time had many students not only from Banten but also from outside Banten. His mother was named Ayu Nazhah who also came from Tanara, Banten.” Bright Ahmad Muhibi, M.A.
Verry Mardiyanto, M.A., was the closing speaker with the theme of The theme of Using Open AI ChatGPT in Higher Education. “OpenAI Chat GPT is a natural language model developed by OpenAI, which can have conversations with humans like a chatbot. It was developed with Machine Learning technology, so it can learn from large datasets of human text and then generate responses that match the input given. This model is very flexible and can be used in various applications, such as customer service, virtual assistants, and so on.” Bright, Werry Mardiyanto, M.A.
