UIN Public Relations – The futsal team from Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin (SMH) State Islamic University (UIN) in Banten achieved a proud accomplishment by winning the gold medal at the 8th Provincial University Sports Week (POMPROV) in 2026. This crowning victory, achieved on Wednesday (September 2, 2026), further solidifies the university’s dominance in producing high-achieving athletes at the provincial level.
The Rector of UIN SMH Banten, Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Ishom, M.A., expressed deep pride in the consecutive achievements made by his students. Prof. Ishom noted that this gold medal in futsal extends the campus team’s winning streak, following similar successes in rock climbing, chess, and pencak silat.
“Praise be to God; we are, of course, incredibly proud to see this string of victories. May this extraordinary achievement serve as a source of inspiration for all students to continue bringing honor to our alma mater—not only in sports but also in academic competitions at the national and international levels,” said Prof. Ishom.
Furthermore, the Rector emphasized that this success serves as clear evidence that student activities are being managed effectively.
“This shows that the athletes from UIN SMH Banten are highly competitive, possess a strong fighting spirit, and are ready to compete at a higher level. Consistent training has produced outstanding young talents whose champion mentality has truly been tested on the field,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs at UIN SMH Banten, Dr. Dedi Sunardi, M.H., expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the tireless efforts of the futsal athletes and their coaching staff. Dr. Dedi emphasized that this victory was the result of the athletes’ thorough preparation and discipline during the training camp.
“We at the university administration deeply appreciate the hard work of the entire competing team. The university is committed to continuing to facilitate and provide full support for the development of student talent. Moving forward, our main focus is to prepare these champions so they can uphold the tradition of winning gold medals all the way to the national level,” stated Dr. Dedi Sunardi.
It is hoped that this futsal team’s gold medal win will serve as a catalyst for a resurgence in athletic achievements among UIN SMH Banten students, while also motivating other student organizations to continue their efforts and excel.
