UIN Public Relations – To strengthen the capacity of academic human resources, the Rector and the Chair of the Senate of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin (SMH) Banten officially installed five new full professors. The open Senate session held for the installation of these full professors was also part of a series of events celebrating the 64th anniversary of UIN SMH Banten, which took place in the Auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Rectorate Building on Thursday (October 15, 2026).
The professorial installation ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor of Banten Province; the Head of the Sub-Directorate of Human Resources at the Directorate of Islamic Higher Education of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia; members of the university senate; leaders of regional institutions; and invited guests from the leadership of state institutions, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and community leaders.
The five professors who were officially installed come from various strategic fields of study, namely:
Prof. Dr. Wazin, M.Si. (Field of Economic Law and Financial Technology)
Prof. Dr. Hj. Eneng Muslihah, Ph.D. (Field of Islamic Educational Leadership)
Prof. Dr. H. Nana Jumhana, M.Ag. (Field of Arabic Language Teaching Methodology)
Prof. Dr. Badruddin, M.Ag. (Field of Sufi Education)
Prof. Dr. Hj. Iin Ratna Sumirat, S.H., M.Hum. (Field of Law: Regional Autonomy)
The Rector of UIN SMH Banten, Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Ishom, M.A., emphasized in his remarks that the appointment of these new full professors is not merely an administrative achievement for the institution, but a tangible demonstration of the university’s readiness to provide solutions to various real-world problems facing society.
“Professors who have emerged from UIN Banten are not only well-versed in theoretical aspects but also provide real solutions to societal problems. For example, Prof. Wajin has addressed the needs of the digital economy era in Banten. Prof. Nana Jumhana has strengthened the academic study of Arabic, which is greatly needed by the pesantren ecosystem. Meanwhile, Prof. Badruddin brings a Sufi approach to alleviate various social pressures and high divorce rates,” said Prof. Ishom.

Furthermore, the Rector highlighted the importance of the academic role in addressing challenges related to educational governance and local regulations. She noted that Prof. Neng Muslihah has been tasked with assisting school and madrasah principals in managing strategic programs such as the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program through a professional leadership approach. In addition, Prof. Iin Ratnasumirat was brought in to oversee the harmonization of local regulations rooted in the local wisdom of the Sultanate of Banten Darussalam, with the aim of strengthening interfaith harmony and the tolerance index among religious communities in the region.
On the same occasion, the Rector revealed the ambitious goals of the institution he leads. With these new appointments, the total number of full professors at UIN SMH Banten now stands at 30. The university aims to increase that number to 60 full professors within the next four to five years and projects that UIN SMH Banten will achieve international recognition by 2045.
To achieve the goal of accelerating the appointment of full professors, the Rector specifically expressed his hope that the Banten Provincial Government would collaborate by providing support for regional development research in the amount of 100 million rupiah per project. This collaboration is considered crucial for fulfilling the requirements for a research portfolio and reputable international publications, which are mandatory for full professor candidates.
Meanwhile, Dr. Muhammad Aziz Hakim, Deputy Director for Human Resources at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, expressed his appreciation for the appointment of the five full professors, three of whom were appointed through the Ministry of Religious Affairs and two through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. He reminded everyone that the functional position of full professor carries significant ethical, administrative, and academic responsibilities.

“A professor must ensure that he or she is scientific leader, ”, academic role models who uphold integrity, ethics, and scientific culture, as well as agents of change who apply scientific knowledge to advance higher education and society,” Aziz Hakim emphasized.
He also emphasized the importance of consistency in carrying out the Three Pillars of Higher Education, particularly the obligation to regularly publish scholarly works in reputable international journals. According to him, meeting these research output requirements is crucial to avoid administrative findings and sanctions—such as the repayment of professors’ honorary allowances—resulting from failure to fulfill quarterly obligations.
The Deputy Governor of Banten Province, Dr. H. Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah, S.H., M.H., M.Si., welcomed the addition of full professors at UIN SMH Banten and commended the university’s contribution to developing high-caliber human resources in the region. In his brief speech, he elaborated on the philosophy behind the word PROFESSOR through an acronym that motivates academics to always focus on regional development:
P – Professional: Competent and experts in their respective fields.
R – Result: Outcome-oriented (output), benefits (outcome), and tangible impacts (impact) based on empirical data.
O – Objective: Maintaining a high degree of scientific objectivity, free from the subjectivity of practical interests.
F – Future: Having a long-term strategic vision (long-term planning) rather than getting stuck in the mindset of the past.
E – Expert: Possesses in-depth expertise that goes beyond the general public’s understanding.
S – Solution & Systematic (Solution-Oriented and Systematic): Becoming a key problem-solver (problem solver) regarding various development challenges in Banten Province, ranging from social and religious issues to an analysis of the management of the provincial budget.
O – Optimistic: Fostering a spirit of optimism within the community.
R – Obey & Responsibility (Obedience and Responsibility): To uphold the Constitution, Pancasila, and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and to shoulder a high degree of moral responsibility as a pillar of the nation’s progress.

With this accreditation, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten is optimistic that it can continue to expand its international network—including the admission of international students from the undergraduate through the doctoral levels—and foster new intellectuals who will follow in the footsteps of the great Banten-born scholar, Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani.
